House Fire in Fairplay

At around 1:30 pm on Friday January 15 North-West Fire was called to 603 Crawford St. in Fairplay for a structure fire with flames showing. Upon arrival of scene Engine 42 found a two-story residential house with fire coming out of a side first floor window. Firefighters pulled an attack line and quickly began to attack the fire.

After confirming there were no people inside firefighters suppressed the fire so that a thorough search for the trapped pets inside could be safely completed. Inside the fire crew found several animals that had perished in the fire.

North-West Fire remained on scene until 5:15 pm to verify there was no fire extension hidden anywhere in the house. The cause of the fire is still under investigation but did not appear to be intentional.
