NWFPD - 2007 Year In Review

2007 saw some big and exciting changes at North-West Fire. The following is a review of the year’s events.

    • On January 1, 2007 we began 24 hour staffing at Station 2 with 3 crews of 2 people and volunteer support. • We ran 440 Calls in 2007; this is up from 394 in 2006 (up 46). • Our average response time for Engine 42/Rescue 42 was 7.33 minutes. This was a    decrease of over 3 minutes from 2006 and more than 10 minutes from 2005. • Received over $222,000 in grants – this was used for haz-mat equipment, apparatus,    wildfire equipment, and PPE. • Put a new wildland engine and a new 4WD structure engine in service. • Implemented the Risk Watch education program in the elementary school. • Ran a successful 4th of July fireworks celebration. • Provided 6-8 free public CPR classes teaching approximately 30 people. • The remodel and furnishing of the living quarters upstairs at Station 2. • A fitness area was developed and equipment provided at Station 2. • All hose was tested per NFPA standards. • All apparatus was inspected and pumps tested per NFPA standards. • A long-term capital plan was developed. • Our biggest and best attended Fire Prevention Week and Open House yet. • The most successful Pancake Breakfast fundraiser in the district’s history. • AED’s and emergency medical kits placed on all first responseapparatus.

As we move into 2008 and beyond we look forward to providing even better services to our community.

    • We anticipate our second new 4WD structure engine delivered in April and our 6WD    tactical tender by December. • Expansion of our public CPR program. • A regional Hazardous Materials Team to be equipped and available for response. • Provide a wildland engine for national emergency response. • Continue to upgrade equipment as technology demands and needs evolve. • Career development for staff and volunteers through expanded training program. • Annual commercial building fire inspection program to be implemented. • Development and implementation of a physical fitness program to include annual    physicals as well as fitness and nutrition education. • SOP’s to be created and put in place. • Expansion of our wildfire mitigation program to include more education.
